Portraits
"Inside, I am a surrealist. Therefore it is a constantly confusing issue, why I keep painting portraits so passionately. The reason might be interest in human nature and psychology. It's more familiar to paint living and moving object, than still and inanimate. My portraits are telling the story of the person, being an analytical cross-section in their personality, trying to reveal their feelings and previous or future experiences.
The model could be a friend of mine who happens to pass trough my studio. Sometimes I ask an artist or musician to pose for the portrait. When I have a chance to work with a live model, I paint faster. The painting always seems to look more lively when it's done with a live model. More detailed portraits are made using a reference photo."
