Konstrundan 2024 is coming up soon! Also this year I will present my work in my open studio! For me the concept of open studio is very appealing. I have been dreaming about having a business space in the town where I could have an open studio - all year round.
Konstrundan is an annual happening for one weekend in the beginning of September. Many artists all around Finland are opening the doors of their studio to present their latest work. It's really interesting!
Since December 2023 I've been renting a small studio in the center of Porvoo. Before this I had a working space in the cellar of the old school where I am living, but the space didn't inspire me and also it was found, that there was a lot of radon radiation. Radon is a radioactive gas that is formed in the ground which contains uranium. Therefore, I couldn't continue painting in the cellar - but I can still use it as a storage for my paintings... Have you ever actually thought about it? When you're in your fourties, and you actually have artwork from 20 years... You really need a big storage. Of course I have also sold a lot of paintings. And given them as a present. And traded for a pizza.
These pictures are from Konstrundan 2023. I made a big exhibition of my works from twenty years in the hall of the old school where I'm living. I was surprised that quite many people came to see my exhibition, even it was in the woods, 60km north-east from Helsinki.
